Allardyce eyes new deal

sam-allardyceSam Allardyce hopes to begin negotiations on a new contract as soon as he has guided West Ham to Premier League safety.

Hammers co-chairman David Gold has said he intends to open talks in the summer, after Allardyce's current deal has ended. However, the manager hopes they will be brought forward once the club have reached their 40-point target. They have 33 points ahead of Today's clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and are 26.00 to go down.

"We'll sit down when we're safe," said Allardyce. "What's the point me waiting until the end of the season if we're mathematically safe with a few games to go?

"There's no point in that is there? We need to start budgeting."

He admitted: "I think we need another five points. Thirty eight will make you safe this year but we will all aim for 40 just in case.

"Hopefully we will be safe as soon as possible because there is a lot to negotiate and a lot to move on, which we are doing."

The Hammers haven't enjoyed their trips away from home this season, losing nine matches on the road. However, they have won two of their last four and are 51.00 to repeat their 3-1 winning scoreline in the reverse fixture. A clean sheet for Allardyce's side can be backed at 10.00.

Mark Noble and James Tomkins should return but Kevin Nolan is a doubt with a foot injury and Joe Cole (hamstring) is ruled out.
