Belgium will consult with Manchester City over the next 24 hours to ensure Vincent Kompany is saved from himself.
Kompany, who is captain for both his club and country, has not played a first-team game since January. The central defender has been plagued by a calf problem all season and City don't want him to suffer yet another setback.
Kompany has trained with the Belgium squad since Monday, ahead of their two World Cup qualifying games against FYR Macedonia.
He will be further assessed after Thursday's session before a final decision is made to any involvement.
"I am in daily contact with the Manchester City doctor," insists Belgian national physio Lieven Maesschalck.
Belgium are 15.00 to beat FYR Macedonia 3-1 on Today and are 26.00 to win next year's World Cup while hosts Brazil are available at 4.20.
