Huntelaar faces spell on the sidelines - Bet on Champions League

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has been ruled out of Schalke's Champions League clash against Galatasaray on Today with a knee injury.

The striker is expected to miss a number of weeks at a crucial time of the season for the German side after colliding with his own goalkeeper against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. The club have confirmed he has damaged knee ligaments, but will not have to go under the knife.

"Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is going to be out due to injury. Fortunately he will not need to undergo surgery," club captain Benedikt Howedes told Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung.

"We as a team hope to see Huntelaar recover quickly and we hope to have him back soon."

Huntelaar will be missed against Galatasaray, as Schalke aim for a place in the last eight with the score from the first leg in Turkey at 1-1. Coach Jens Keller is also without midfielder Jermaine Jones, who scored the crucial away goal in the first leg, due to suspension.

Schalke are 12.00 to win the tie 3-1 in normal time, and are 2.62 to keep a clean sheet.

"We are in a good position before the second leg, but the draw is only going to be worth something if we reach the quarter-finals,'" said Keller, whose side are 67.00 to win the tournament.

"But the guys proved that they were the better team.''
