Pardew eyes Europa League glory - Betting on Europa League

alan-pardewAlan Pardew remains focused on trying to win the Europa League, as Newcastle United aim to reach the last eight by winning at home to Anzhi Makhachkala.

The first leg in Russia ended goalless, leaving the Magpies with a single focus, as Pardew said: "It's quite simple - we need to win."

Newcastle are 2.45 to win the game at St James' Park in normal time and are 2.20 to qualify for the quarter-finals, while the Magpies are 21.00 to win the competition and secure their first major silverware for more than 40 years.

Pardew, who will have to do without the services of Hatem Ben Arfa, Mathieu Debuchy, Yoan Gouffran, Tim Krul and Fabricio Coloccini, has his sights set high, adding: "We are in it to win it.

"I have been to the FA Cup final twice and lost twice and I see this competition as a higher standard of competition.

"But I want to win and this club wants to win trophies, so we have a big agenda in front of us."

Newcastle can take heart from the fact that Liverpool defeated Anzhi 1-0 at Anfield in the group stages of the competition, with Stewart Downing netting the only goal of the game.
