Parker targets England recall

scott-parker-2Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker hopes he can win his place in the England squad back after finally returning to top form.

The 32-year-old former Charlton Athletic, Chelsea, Newcastle United and West Ham United star did not make his first Premier League appearance of the season until mid-December after picking up an injury while on international duty, but finally appears to be back to his best form.

Parker was named as the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year when he was with West Ham in 2010-11 and impressed in Spurs' 3-0 Europa League win over Inter Milan on Thursday.

Spurs are 11.00 to win the second leg in Milan 1-0 and are available at 4.50 to claim this season's Europa League.

Parker said: "Over the last couple of weeks I've thought 'right I'm slowly getting there' and I was pleased with the way things went against Inter.

"England is still at the forefront of my mind. I'd love to be involved again."

Parker has represented his country on 17 occasions but has not played for Roy Hodgson’s side since the Euro 2012 quarter-final defeat to Italy.

England are rated at 21.00 to win the 2014 World Cup, with holders Spain available at 6.00.
