Warnock prepared for Leeds exit

neil-warnockLeeds manager Neil Warnock says his players will continue to fight for promotion from the Championship, regardless of whether he is still at the helm.

The 64-year-old's days at the club appear to be numbered following Saturday's home defeat at the hands of relegation-threatened Huddersfield. Warnock had previously declared he would leave the club if he failed to guide them to the Premier League, and United, seven points off the play-off places, are now 41.00 to be promoted.

Bolton and Middlesbrough, both two points ahead of the Whites, are 11.00 and 29.00 to go up respectively.

However, despite his own precarious position, Warnock is backing the team to battle on, and hopes the club's owners will wait until the summer before deciding to make a change.

"We're still capable of beating Ipswich and Derby in the space of 48 hours, but I think it's further away than it's ever been now," he said.

"Whatever happens – and I might not be here, but if I am we'll still give it our best shot. I wouldn't write the group off."

He added of the club's new owners: "I want them to get the best manager they can get to replace me and some of them might not be available until the summer."
