Wales’ hopes for Euro 2016 qualifications

Chris Coleman

Wales boss Chris Coleman says he has options, despite the omission of several key players for Friday night's European Championship qualifier with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Wigan midfielder Emyr Huws is the latest withdrawal from the party for the clash at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen are already missing from Coleman's squad, who face Cyprus on Monday in Cardiff, while defenders James Collins and Paul Dummett and midfielder Lee Evans are also ruled out.

Declan John of Cardiff and Crawley Town's Joe Walsh have been drafted in and Coleman insists he still has plenty of options ahead of the Group B showdown.

"On Friday night, it comes down to how big our players' hearts are. Can they step-up? This is what we have to see. The pressure is on - and we can’t wait to get it on. This is still only the second match in the group, but Bosnia know that having lost their opening match, they need something from our game to still be in the running. It is that important," Coleman said.

"As regards tactics, with some key players missing, we need to have options and more than one plan, and we have. Do we play five at the back? We have options, so you will just have to wait and see," added the Wales boss.

Gareth Bale joined the squad on Monday and is set to start.

Bosnia are seeking their first points in the group after losing their opening qualifier 2-1 at home to Cyprus.

But, like Wales, they have some notable absentees with the veteran Emir Spahic, his fellow defender Ermin Bicakcic and midfielder Goran Zakaric all ruled out by injury.

"We just have to make the best we can," coach Safet Susic said.

"We have to play an open game and remedy the damage that was done in Cyprus.

"The injuries are the same for both teams and we are aware that, after Bale, their best player Aaron Ramsey will not be playing.

"But whoever plays there for Wales will be good and the game will be decided in midfield."
