Dominic Thiem broke his duck on the ATP Tour by coming from a set down to defeat Leonardo Mayer in the Open de Nice Cote d'Azur final.
The Austrian's only previous appearance in an ATP final ended in defeat to David Goffin in Kitzbuhel last year, but he emerged victorious on this occasion following nearly three hours of gruelling action.
