Henderson: Europe not gone yet

jordan-hendersonJordan Henderson believes Liverpool still have much to play for despite the weekend's defeat against Southampton.

Brendan Rodgers' side fell to a 3-1 defeat at St Mary's, bringing an end to a run of three straight wins in the league. They sit seventh in the league going into the international break, three points behind Merseyside rivals Everton, who have a game in hand.

And although Champions League qualification now seems out of reach, Henderson has urged his team-mates to keep fighting for European football next year. Liverpool are now 21.00 to finish in the top four while Everton are 10.00. Arsenal, five points ahead of them in the league, are 1.72.

"It was a big disappointment against Southampton but Europe's not gone yet," the midfielder told the Liverpool Echo.

"We've still got eight games to play and that's a lot of points to play for.

"We've still got to play some of the teams above us so we have to keep going.

"We have to pick ourselves up from this and ensure we respond positively against Aston Villa after the international break."
